BECY Summer School 2014

The BECY Summer School 2014 is over

18 Students from 8 different countries participated at the BECY Summer School 2014. In a three week programme they got an insight into the different parts of the bio-based economy. The topics covered the life cycle of bio-based materials: Bioenergy, Biomaterials, Food technology, as well as Ethics and Social Aspects of a future bio-based economy.

The BECY Summer School students spent the first two weeks in Hohenheim. There, they did not only experience the lectures, lab and group work, but also the innovation history of the city of Stuttgart, its success in entrepreneurship and the Agricultural Exhibition Fair (Landwirtschaftliches Hauptfest).

During the third week, the Students were located at the research station Ihinger Hof of the University of Hohenheim. During the excursion they visited the biogas plant at the Unterer Lindenhof.

 In Summary, the BECY Summer School was a wonderful experience for all the participants with a lot of workload and a good introduction into the bio-based economy and german culture and history.
